A Course in Consciousness
This course introduces you to working on your consciousness. It focuses on three important forms:

General Awareness
However consciousness we think we are, all of us have the potential to be even more conscious. We would notice more at the physical, emotional and mental levels. We would notice more about ourselves, other people, and the world. And we would understand much more. There seems to be no upper limit to consciousness. The more we work on ourselves, the more conscious we become. This can make all the difference to our lives.

Distant Knowing
Many of have had at least one “extraordinary experience” when we saw or knew something, even though it seemed impossible at the time. One of the best known forms of distant knowing is telepathy, which means “being able to receive and transmit feelings at a distance”. In its much less common form, mental telepathy, it is thoughts that are received and transmitted. Contrary to widespread belief, distant knowing is not a “gift”, available only to a few. It is, in fact, a normal human ability. The main reason it does not get used much, or developed, is because the modern world does not value or encourage it.

Spiritual Perception
This is the term we use at the School for the ability to perceive and experience the non-physical aspects of the world and the human being. These aspects are virtually unknown to science and to the world today. They are sometimes known colloquially as the “spiritual world”. They are just as real and important as the familiar physical aspects that are the normal daily reality for most people. Once you have “awakened” and developed you non-physical “inner senses”, vast and fascinating aspects of the world and the human being become available to you. When this happens, you realise that what you had believed to be the whole of reality (as experienced through your five physical senses) is simply one part of a much greater reality.
